SAN JOSE, CA – eBay Motors today announced that 1,200 automobile dealers have signed up to utilize eBay Motors Local Market - a new subscription-based service that enables automotive dealers to easily upload and list their entire used-car lot for one low price. In addition, eBay Motors will roll out eBay Motors University designed to teach dealers how to sell vehicles online.
eBay Motors Local Market, which launched in February, allows automotive dealers to showcase their entire used-vehicle inventory including late model used-vehicles to customers within a 100-mile radius of the dealership. The $1,000 monthly eBay Motors Local Market subscription covers listing fees for an unlimited amount of vehicles, with no individual insertion fee per vehicle.
“Early traction for eBay Motors Local Market proves that dealers understand consumers are migrating online to find their next vehicle,” said Rob Chesney, vice president, eBay Motors, Marketplaces. “As part of this migration, consumers are demanding more control and flexibility in their shopping experience, requesting deep local inventory, the ability to negotiate price and the option of an in-person test drive.”
To help the thousands of dealers who use the site, eBay Motors will offer an eBay Motors University for dealers beginning this month. The company has also named a new manager of dealer education, Clayton Stanfield. Stanfield’s responsibilities include oversight of the eBay Motors University as well as development of an online curriculum specifically for dealership Internet sales managers. This will allow Internet sales managers to receive certified training through online classes and tutorials.
Before joining eBay Motors, Stanfield worked as a dealership trainer and consultant at Universal Dealer Consultants – the nation’s leading retail automotive consulting firm – helping dealers start-up Internet sales departments, learn how to manage leads more effectively and improve overall online sales.
